AUTONOMA exhibited Kuka’s new iisy cobot at Perth\’s Army Robotics Expo (ARX) 2023. The attendees, including the WA Minister of Defence, the Hon Paul Papalia, were very engaged and enthusiastic about the direction of robotics and automation in Australia.
Industries around the world are rapidly exploring and adopting Artificial Intelligence and Robotic and Autonomous Systems (RAS) technologies. ARX presents an opportunity to combine various technologies and overcome the boundaries between civil and military, private and public sectors, to achieve sovereign innovation.
The implementation of RAS technology will rely on several emerging technologies such as AI, quantum technologies, power and energy efficiency (including battery technology and hybrid), and ensuring trust in autonomous systems (both physical and cyber). By embracing these technologies, Defence will transform how it operates, trains, prepares, equips, and fights in the future. Australia\’s Defence industry growth is crucial to this transformation, along with finding new applications for dual-use technology developed in civilian sectors.
